I did this for an illustration contest a while back for a imaginary kids book about watermelons. I’d recently heard there are people out there who grill watermelons, I thought this concept would be fun. I didn’t place, but I like how cinematic it turned out and absolutely love their faces!
A render from my final project for 3D Foundations at Full Sail University. Everything was created in Maya and Substance painter, though this final render was in Blender Cycles.
My submission for an illustration competition based on a then-unpublished work by Neil Gaiman and judged by the man himself. I based art off the sentence “I closed my eyes but the world became no darker. ‘There is evil,’ I told him.” Of course my feelings about Gaiman have changed dramatically since I made this, but I’m still happy with the artwork (though I think I overdid the distortion which made it look like the main subject’s right arm is too short rather than seen through a distorted perspective).
Posters
I needed a poster when I submitted my “Welcome to Earth” animation to a UFO film festival, so I thought a vintage sci-fi vibe would be fun.
An oldie but a goodie. This was for a live show in Korea.
Merchandise
I spent a year working with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library which is as cool as it sounds. As a fundraiser, I created a merchandise shop to sell branded swag with the proceeds going directly to purchasing books for preschoolers in Washington State. Most of that just had the Imagination Library Logo but I wanted to do some unique designs as well. Unfortunately I was very limited to what was allowed since Dolly smartly controls usage of her image so I had to come up with ideas that didn’t feature her. I’m probably in violation of some flag code, but this Washington Reads one was my favorite and our bestseller! I like the subtlety of it, especially his Mona Lisa smile.
An illustration from a sketch I did in a figure study. I did this to practice the RetroSupply Company’s ColorLab vintage-style halftone brushes. It’s far from perfect as I’m still learning the system, but I thought this image turned out pretty well. Made in Krita and Affinity Photo2.
This is a style test on an original character for a graphic novel I’m working on. I don’t think I’m going to go with the half-tone style for comic book, but I enjoyed how it looked, so I included it here. Made in Reallusion Character Creator/iClone, Blender, Krita, and Affinty Photo2.
A different stylistic take on a character featured above for a graphic novel I’m working on. This is probably going to be closer to the final appearance as it suits the story’s gothic tone more than the halftone style does. The character is original, but the building is from a modular mansion kit I’ve purchased for the project.
Horror Art
Another image from Abandoned Altars, made with Krita, Reallusion, and Blender. It was designed for display in black and white. The monster design came from some free modular pack I’d received years ago but the rest is original.
The last of my illustrations for Abandoned Altars. Took the title of the book quite literally and had some fun in Blender. Even though I knew the final version would be in high contrast black and white, I saw a really bright sunset which inspired my color choices.
This was published in grayscale in Abandoned Altars (Signus Magnolia, 2025). Just a fun piece made in Reallusion, Blender, and Krita.
I love the mystery of this image. You can’t quite tell if she’s just relaxing and having a smoke, or in some serious trouble in the cold. It’s an original character made in Character Creator, and posed in iClone before being brought into Blender for the lighting.
