Commercials/Nonprofit Videos

I wanted to come up with something unique for Giving Tuesday while working as an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer with the Amazing Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. So, I hand-bound a custom popup book to tell the story of the program for our fundraiser. It was a lot of work and a lot of fun.

Here’s an old video I did in support of Jambo Junior, an art club in the Marshall Islands. It’s an older video now and I had nothing by my camera and a low-powered laptop to produce it, so I hope the lack of technical quality doesn’t overshadow the love I had for this organization.

Pwnisher Challenges

Twice a year I participate in Clinton Jones’ themed animation challenges. I love the community and it’s a great way to grow in my skill. Here are the videos I’ve made in order of newest to oldest…hopefully you can see some growth!

Short Films

This is an experimental animation in which I tried to explore my complicated feelings about how a people who had experienced a genocide could go on to create a genocide of their own. I’m not sure I’d make some of the stylistic choices again, but it was still a great learning experiment and lengthiest animation up until my current one.

This one was inspired by getting bit my mosquitoes on a camping trip; no more complex plot than that! Still, I thought it visually came out looking good and you’ll see some of the DNA of my massive current project in the space shots here.

Just for fun, I created a trailer for an imaginary Sandman movie. Although I’ve since come up with a far better technique for the style of the clay, this was one of the most fun I’ve ever had and was a love letter to the Sandman universe. There was a meant to be a sequel focusing on the Dead Boy Detectives, but then Neil Gaiman broke my heart. (There is some brief cartoon nudity in the embedded video, if that’s an issue, here’s a link to a censored version.)

Here’s a short microfilm I created to help learn some VFX and filmmaking techniques. Unfortunately the prop which serves as a hole in the wall got moved a bit by my dog, but there was nothing I could do about that. As my skills have improved a lot since I made this, something I think about redoing it.

Another horror microfilm I did what seems like a lifetime ago now.
